Any hipsters on holiday in Palma will be more than happy to drag themselves away from their beard oil and flat whites to enjoy a breakfast of champions Shoreditch style.
Down in Sa Gerreria the boho chic barrio of Palma that's on the up and up, a young entrepreneur from the city has opened up a take-away cereal bar serving a myriad of concoctions for a healthy, or not so healthy, start to the day.
Sandra Garrido, 23, was inspired to open her little cafe in what was a lawyers' office by trips to trendy London and Barcelona. Selling only take-away breakfast cereal bowls she's already attracting the attention and custom of the office workers in the area who pop in regularly for a mid-morning breakfast treat.
Called Horny Flakes, (don't ask me why) Sandra's place is decorated with collages of cereal boxes from which the young 'mixologist' will concoct a personalised breakfast bowl just for you. For example there's a sharing bowl called the El+Horny with Lion, Golden Grahams, Milka, and Oreos which comes doused in a choice of five different milks.
You can choose from a whole menu of exotically American sounding names for the different bowls – sunrise fantasy and unicorn – to name just a couple and choose your own toppings at a cost of €5 or €6 per bowl.
It sounds like fun, particularly when compared to some of the hotel buffets, so why not pop along and see Sandra at Horny Flakes, Carrer de la Gerreria, 13, and there's no need to reserve a table!
