Hotel Forn Nou, Arta
Just suppose you saw some really cheap flights to Mallorca from your local airport which meant you had to gather up your holiday clobber and leave the day after tomorrow? Would you find reasonably priced accommodation to make your outlay and precipitous departure worthwhile?
Well I supposed just that and put the date 14th July for 3 nights for two people into our accommodation search engine and out popped (amongst many others) the Hotel Forn Nou in Arta, at a remarkable €258.90 with breakfast included!
So, what's it like? It's a lovely oldish building slap bang in the centre of Arta with lots of traditional, rustic touches; wood beams, sandstone, cast-iron columns, and drapes wafting in the warm breeze, but with some ultra-modern touches; modern light wells, lots of glass and smooth concrete.
Simply furnished, Forn Nou's rooms are homely and comfortable, yet with a feeling of space. With a bistro and terrace on the ground floor and a roof terrace with breathtaking views of the lovely town of Arta's beautiful church and castle.
Arta itself is the perfect base for a holiday, chock full of great bars, restaurants, and shops, a pedestrianised main street with a weekly market and within easy striking distance of some great beaches, small towns and golf courses.
If only I did have those cheap flights, I'd be booking this place right now!
