Mallorca's organic wine

Three gold medals

mallorcan wines at the Millésime Bio wine trade fair

The world's largest organic and ecological wine fair has just finished and two of Mallorca's bodegas have scooped three gold and a silver medal between them for their excellent wines.

The Millésime Bio wine trade fair was held this week in Montpellier when around 4000 professionals from the world of wine were in attendance whilst 450 judges sniffed, swilled, and possibly swallowed 1612 bottles of wine from 13 different countries!

A total of 177 gold medals were awarded for the best organic wines in different categories, and as I said, two of Mallorca's bodegas were amongst the golds.

Can Axartell in Pollensa, from the DO Vi de la Terra Mallorca, received gold for its rose wine Rosat 2019, a fresh, delicious and uncomplicated little number made from pinot noir and callet grapes, and a special edition red (Sirà, Merlot, Callet and Mantonegro) called The Artist 2019.

Celler Can Majoral de Algaida (DOP Pla i Llevant) got gold for S'Heretat 2014 (Callet, Sirà and Cabernet Sauvignon) a big, beefy red, and a silver for its white wine Capgiró de la añada 2018, made from Giró Ros grapes.

Obviously with the small scale and lack of automation in the loving production of these wines they don't come cheap, but if you fancy trying one just click on the links above for where to buy them.
