The Move Mallorca 2020
Mallorca's picturesque yet extremely challenging cycling routes have drawn riders from all over the world and of all abilities to test themselves over varied terrain. Thousands and thousands of lycra lads and lasses arrive every year to pedal hundreds of kilometres around the island whose off season climate is ideal for the bikers.
Now our lovely island has attracted the attention of perhaps the world's most famous cyclist, Lance Armstrong. The only rider to win seven consecutive Tour de France titles, (1999 – 2005) Armstrong then became the only man to lose seven consecutive titles when he was stripped of them by the cycling authorities for his performance enhancing drug use.
These days his involvement in professional cycling is confined to a podcast called The Move, and in an effort to promote this and make some cash, he's organised a cycling tour of Mallorca this September.
Called The Move Mallorca 2020, Lance Armstrong and former team mate George Hincapie have got together to offer a holiday for just 12 guests for 6 nights and 5 days of riding in Mallorca.
Adventure Holiday company Out There, which is advertising the trip, proclaim that "Never has Lance Armstrong headlined a cycling tour like this - until now." They add, “we invite you to join this amazing experience as one of only 12 guests - sure to sell out quickly. Mallorca is a cycling paradise and the tour will feature the Island’s iconic rides. 5 days of riding with Lance and George, all accommodations, Pinarello bikes, cycling kit, receptions, meals, support and amazing memories will be included."
Before you start clogging up the Internet trying to book your hols with Lance, I feel I should mention that the cost is $30,000, which is not a paltry sum. Would you still want to reserve your place at that price?
