World's two best teams
What be considered two of the world's two best football teams – Barcelona and Real Madrid – are in Mallorca this month in one form or another.
The mighty Barça will be here in person; Messi, Griezman, Suarez, et al, to face the mighty Mallorca on Saturday, March 14th at 18:30 in Palma's Son Moix stadium. Tickets for the top v bottom of the table clash go on sale today and are priced to sell at €290 for the best seats because of the high demand for tickets. (buy tickets)
There are cheaper tickets available with prices as low as €80 to stand on the terraces but all of them are sure to sell out quickly. Interestingly, the top tickets are €40 more expensive than when Real Madrid were beaten here last October!
Talking of Real, the White Team will be represented here in Mallorca by many of the trophies they've won over the years, both in football and Spain's second most popular sport, basketball. The Rafa Nadal Museum Experience in Manacor (Rafa's home town) has just started a three month long exhibition of trophies and other objects like signed shirts loaned by the Whites.
Included in the trophy cupboard are the 2018 Champions League Trophy which Zidane's men won by beating Liverpool 3 – 1 in Kiev and the Euroleague trophy that the basketballers won in Belgrade in the same year.
The museum also houses the many trophies won by Rafa himself, as well as other memorabilia donated by the likes of athletes such as Usain Bolt, Michael Jordan, Leo Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Roger Federer, Lebron James and Pau Gasol. In addition there are interactive experiences where you can pit your sporting prowess against top players in tennis rowing, motor racing etc.
Tickets cost €15 for adults and €10 for kids and should be bought in advance online via the link as admission is strictly limited by numbers so the experience can be enjoyed to the full.
